S2Ep5 (Dat Pink Leotard… Issa Headband Now)

1Apr

March 24, 2018 (Dat Pink Leotard... Issa Headband Now)

Hosts: DC PauL, Oshun, Martin "Bats" Bradford, & Malik Bartholomew

Engineer: DJ Mastermind

Producer: Brian Egland

Guests: Dui Jarrod, Janet Hubert, Roland Lane, Dejaye & Kevin Caldwell

Topics:   The studio was lit and filled with excitment for this episode. The Louisiana Derby was next door, Oshun was rocking a fascinator hat (google it...seriously) counting down for her birthday, talks of a cannibus marketplace left a few folks hopeful for the future,  and in the building was black excellence x10, with rising star Dui Jarrod, the cast of his new series, and the only Aunt Viv that we recognize, Janet Hubbert.  So join DC PauL and the creative cool kids CoHosts for this not to miss episode of TheMisBelief RadioShow.

We are first joined by Filmaker Dui Jarrod and the cast of his series, King Ester, which stars Blacktress Janet Hubbert. King Ester tells the story of a New Orleans trans woman and her family during the seven days before Hurricane Katrina hit the city.  We learn about how the series came to be, the difficulties in writing it, the actor who is killing the New Orleans accent, and we take a second to throw it back with Ms. Janet about Aunt Viv, Fresh Prince, and the pink leotard.

After dat DC and TheCoHosts chat with Kevin of Commonsensenola about their efforts to create a cannibus marketplace in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana.  Kevin let's know about the progress being made, the bills Commonsensenola is backing, a brief history the connection between New Orleans, Jazz Music, and cannibus, and how right now Baton Rouge is more on board than New Orleans is.

We run it about the Kenner man who tried to take two kids from the deli section in wal-mart with a machete, Mitch Landrieu's promotional tour, the official launch of DJ Masterminds YADIG brand line, DC's line name in college, and a whole lot more of wuts going on out chere, this week's Oshun's Crazy Nola  find is a course of raising urban chickens, a sankofa session in honor of Big chief Thomas Sparks Sr., and #thatactorguy Mister Bats is slapping the Dat Neck this week to the white media and what they consider good causes.
